Abstract: The outbreak of COVID-19 has brought the disrupt change to education&#xD;
activities; from face to face to distance learning. In large-scale e-learning&#xD;
implementations, both teachers and students face an overload of subject&#xD;
material, making it difficult to adjust to the online context. This qualitative&#xD;
research investigated the students’ perception of e-learning implementation&#xD;
from the perspective of translation-course participants. The perception&#xD;
reflected the student challenges that categorized as adaptability to e-learning&#xD;
environment; technical availability and computer literacy; timemanagement,&#xD;
learning engagement; and self-effort and readiness. A semi&#xD;
structured-questionnaire Google Form that consisted of 19 items was&#xD;
developed to collect the students' perceptions and opinions. The&#xD;
questionnaire distributed and collected online. The data was tabulated,&#xD;
presented, and analyzed statistically. The perception of students on elearning&#xD;
revealed the importance of improvement on technical support for&#xD;
learning instruction and material presentation, as well as students’ selfdiscipline&#xD;
on learning schedule. The finding of this study was feedback for&#xD;
authors to provide effective teaching by consideration to student's challenges&#xD;
in the e-learning environment.</summary>

Abstract: Since the beginning of the Covid-19 Pandemic, the world has heavily relied on the internet to acquire information. The Pandemic is growing as a complex information discourse with so many texts from many sources. Various texts about Covid-19 certainly have various meanings for their readers. It is interesting to see an information resource that presents information in many languages in parallel. This study aims to reveal the global meaning of the parallel Indonesian and English texts of Covid-19 released by the World Health Organization. More specifically, this study examines whether parallelism in the two versions of the same text will present differences in the global meaning of each text; and whether there are social and political aspects that potentially affect the differences. The data for this study consists of two pairs of question-and-answer texts about Covid-19 published by WHO in English and Indonesian. This study used van Dijk's Critical Discourse Analysis framework at the macrostructure level. This study collected all texts and macro rules (deletion, generalization, and construction) have been applied to reduce information at the texts’ micro level to macropropositions at the macro level or the global topics/themes of discourse. There are some differences in the Indonesian text when compared to the original English text. Some of these differences may appear in the Indonesian translated version as a response to Indonesia's social and political conditions during the Covid-19 pandemic.</summary>

Abstract: This research intended to compare the impacts of using original and local short stories as two types of cultural sources on enhancing Indonesian EFL learners’ reading comprehension. To achieve this goal, 50 intermediate Indonesian participants were chosen by the administration of the Oxford Quick Placement Test. Then, they were assigned to the local group and the original groups. After that, the participants of the two groups took the reading pre-test. After the pre-testing process, one group was trained by the original short storybooks, and the other group was instructed by the local short storybooks. In five sessions, five reading passages were taught to each group. After teaching the passages, a reading post-test was administered to the groups to measure the impacts of the original and the local short storybooks on their reading development. The results indicated that both groups had an improvement on their reading post-tests, but the original group outflanked the local group on the reading post-test. The results can have some implications for English teachers and learners.</summary>

Abstract: The research attempted to recognize students’ comprehension in adopting a set of procedures in the translation process compared to the translation-professional choices in real-situation. Thus, two sets of questionnaires were provided for students and professional translators. The qualitative method was employed in conducting the research. The first questionnaire enabled students to express their feelings, thoughts, and ideas concerning the translation course and process. This reflection revealed the students’ strategies, interests, and motivation in attending the course. It also allowed the student to see the importance&#xD;
and benefit of the course. On the other hand, the second questionnaire drew some insight into professional translators’ choice in doing a translation, particularly on strategy in dealing with texts. Those finding provides an opportunity for teachers to identify the students’ needs in learning and practicing the translation as close as the professional does and finally to find the best approach in teaching translation.</summary>
