AN ANALYSIS OF AUDIO VISUAL METHOD ON THE STUDENTS ACHIEVEMENT IN LISTENING SKILL

Abstract

The objective of the research was to know students’ achievement by using audio visual method in listening skill. The qualitative research was used in this research. The subject of the research was one class consisted of thirty nine students in the second semester of English Education Department Universitas Muslim Nusantara Al Washliyah Medan academic year 2019-2020. The technique of collecting data were test and questionnaire. The test of the research used Youtube video. Furthermore, the questionnaire of the research used likert scale. The result of the research showed from the test, the students which applied by using conventional method obtained 73 and the students which applied by using audio visual method obtained 83, it can be seen from the average. From the questionnaire, students gave positive respons on the use of audio visual method (Youtube video). The conclusion in this research are : (1) Audio visual can improve students’ achievement in listening skill, (2) Using audio visual (Youtube video) helps the students in understanding the material more easily, motivates and attracts them to learn English.
