AN ANALYZING OF TEACHER’S STRATEGIES IN IMPROVING STUDENT’S ENGLISH ABILITY IN LISTENING SECTION AT SMA NEGERI 1 TANJUNG MORAWA

Abstract

The objective of this research was to investigate the strategies that teacher used in teaching listening to the students in SMA Negeri 1 TanjungMorawa. It is caused by many students that still low in listening. Qualitative Research Method was employed in this study. The participant of this research was one English teacher and one class of students in grade XI Mia 1 senior high school in TanjungMorawa. This research used three techniques in collecting data: interview, classroom observation and also test the students. The findings of Teacher’s strategies in improving student’s English ability in listening section at SMA Negeri 1 TanjungMorawawere found using strategies to the students. It was given during teaching learning process. The data was gained through classroom observation and interview with the teachers and to know the used of the strategies was giving good impact to the students, the researcher had tested them. Then the research question about the student’s response to the strategies used by the teachers as the findings the students responded positively toward the English teachers strategies even though they had some obstacles. The students were participating in discussion and answering the questions. Since the teacher pointed out the student one by one, they had no choice but do what their teacher have asked. In addition, the result of the research also showed students positive response. The result of the research was expected to the next researcherwho associated with this field.
