THE ABILITY OF THE STUDENTS IN CHANGING ACTIVE VOICE INTO PASSIVE VOICE BY THE SECOND YEAR STUDENTS OF SMP SUMATERA

Abstract

This research was conducted to investigate students’ ability in using passive voice. The objective of this research was to investigate the ability of the second year students of SMP Sumatera in changing active voice into passive voice. This study used descriptive design. Population of the research was the achievement of the second year students of SMP Sumatera. The sample was the achievement of forty students of the second year students in 2017/2018 of SMP Sumatera to use passive voice. After analyzing the data, it was found there were 34 persons or 85% of the students who were successful in answering the passive voice test in multiple choice and essay form. It meant that 34 students or 85 % of students who were able to change active voice into passive voice. Consequently, it was judged that the second year students of SMP Sumatera were able to change active voice into passive voice.
