The Effectiveness Of Song Lyric To Improve Student”S Ability In Writing Descriptive Text

Abstract

This research concerns with the discussion of the effectiveness of song lyric on students’ ability in writing descriptive text. The objective of this research was to investigate and describe the effectiveness of Song lyric in learning writing in Senior High School SMA PAB Patumbak in 2019-2020 School Year. The data were collected by using the test in form of writing descriptive text. The method used in this research was experimental method. The population of this research was the 2019-2020 Academic year eleventh grade students of SMA PAB 9 Patumbak. The sample of this research was two classes consisting of 40 students for experimental class and 40 students for control class. The experimental group learning writing the material is appropriately with the subject material to the Senior High School using Audio or Song lyric, while the control group learn it without Song lyric. In collecting the data, the researcher used writing test and observations checklist. The instrument was given in pre-test and post-test. Before giving the treatment, the researcher gave pre-test for both classes. Then, after conducting the treatments, the instrument was given in post-test. After giving pre-test and post-test, the researcher analyzed the data using the t-test formula: From the data analysis was gained that the t-test (7.14) t-table (1.671). Therefore, there is significant effect of song lyric on students’ ability in writing descriptive text. In other words, song lyric was effective in learning writing Descriptive Text in Senior High School SMA PAB 9 Patumbak in 2019-2020 School Year.
