dc.description.abstractThe objective of the research was to improve speaking fluency through Drilling Tecnique by Using American Phrases at grade XI of SMA Swasta Teladan Medan in academic year 2020/2021. The research used Quantitative method. Instrument of collecting data were oral and written, 5 question in interview and 10 exercise in fill in the blanks (American Phrases). The data obtained were analyzed through quantitative analysis to calculate the percentage of completeness. Based on the result of the research, it can be seen that students’ speaking fluency in the research. The result of this research shows that using American Phrases can be applied Drilling as a technique in improving speaking fluency at XI MIPA grade of SMA Swasta Teladan Medan. There were significant difference of students’achievement in the pre-test to post-test. The student’average in pre-test from English teacher was (60), the average score and post exercise and interview in post-test was (90). The researcher found that this research had positive effect and great respond to Drilling technique in threatment by using American phrases. The conclusion in this research were the drilling technique by using American phrases as material significantly improved students speaking fluency.en_US
