AN ANALYSIS AMERICA WOMEN'S EXISTENCE IN THE SECOND WORLD WAR IN THE NOVEL SUMMER OF MY GERMAN SOLDIER BY BETTE GREENE

Abstract

This study is a research in analyzing American women’s existence through Patty’s character problems in her family circle and as the minority in the society trying to survive from discrimination or racism and prejudice during the Second World war. This research is a descriptive-qualitative study. The subject of this research is Bette Greene’s Summer of My German Soldier novel. In collecting data, reading technique is used to prove the existence related to women’s existence. The data analysis are conducted using feminist approach. The results of this research show three points. First, it is related to discrimination and prejudice in the family and society circle. Second, it is related to contributions which show they work to show their existence. Third, it is related to survival things that mde them survive.
