dc.description.abstractThe objective of the research was to determine the effect of guessing games on students vocabulary acquisition. This research was conducted and analyzed in 8th grade students of SMP Karya Serdang Lubuk Pakam by using a quantitative approach. It used quasi- experimental research desigh with pre-test and post-test control group design. Sampling was done using purposive sampling technique by dividing the research group into 2 classes, namely the experimental class and the control class. Each research class consisted of 33 students. The experimental class was taught using the quess the world technique, while the control class listened to one-way explanations from the teacher and did written exercises or no games. The results obtained from this research proved that there was a significant increase in the guessing game technique. This meant the value of the control class that did not use the game. It could be seen from the result of t which was 5.70en_US
