dc.description.abstractThe aim of the research is to find out the effectiveness of using Instagram filters towards students' competency in tenses at eleventh grade. I was observed and analyzed from students of the tenth grade of SMK Negeri 7 Medan. In this research, instagram filters as the media was implemented to solve the problem of students' in learning English especially tenses. The method of this research is quantitative and the population of students consisted of 120 students; the sample was 50 students, 25 students’ XI UPW 1 as the experimental class and 25 students’ XI UPW 2 as the control class. Instrument of this research was used multiple choice about present continuous tense. After the researcher gave the treatment class, the experimental class got higher score than control class, the result obtained score post-test for experimental class was 73,2, while control class got the score was 59,6, the research about the effectiveness of using filters towards students competency in tenses at eleventh grade was significantly affected on students tenses achievement. It could be concluded that the use of instagram filters to increasing students tense especially present continuous tense was effective. The result of this research was the t observed was 3,04 with the t critical 0.05 and t table (1,67) its mean t observed higher than t table (3,04 > 1,67). It can state that there is significant difference between from students’ tense score by using instagram filters and without instagram filters. It means there is a significant effect of using instagram filters for students' competency in tenses.en_US
