The effect of english song on students' listening skill

Abstract

The objective of the research was found out the Effect of English Song on Students’ Listening Skill. The method in this research was experimental research. The experimental research designed were used two classes which were taught two different media. The experiment class class was taught with English Song, and the control class was taught without English song. The population in seven grade students of MTs.Al Washliyah Medan consist of 160 students; the sample was 60 students ( 30 students’ experimental class and 30 students controlled class). Moreover, this research was conducted through the following procedures : giving pre-test, applying treatments, and giving post-test. The test is multiple choices which consist of 10 items to both of experimental group and control group in pre-test and post-test. The data analyzed in this research and was gathered through test, after getting the score from the test, it was analyzed and processed by using statistic data calculation of T-test formula. The result of the research proved that there was a difference score between students’ score in learning listening by using English Song and without English Song according to the result of statistical calculation it can be seen that mean of gained score of the experimental class is 80,6 and the mean of gained score of controlled class is 47 . in conclusion, English Song can effectively be used to teach listening learning of seven grade students of MTs. Al washliyah Medan.
