dc.description.abstractThis thesis focused on the process of reading comprehension by applying folktale story. The objective was to improve students' achievement in reading comprehension using folktales. This research was aims to improving students’ achievement in reading comprehension by applying folktale story for tenth grade at SMA SWASTA BINA BERSAUDARA MEDAN. The subjects of the research were 23 students, consisting of 11 male and 12 female. The type of research used is classroom action research (CAR) which is carried out in 2 cycle, each cycle consists of 3 meetings. The instruments used in this study were multiple choice tests, observation sheets, interview sheets, questionnaires and documentation. The results of the questionnaire from cycle I to cycle II increased. Based on data analysis, students who are assigned in the initial or final form can have a better influence on students and teachers in English lessons, especially in reading comprehension. The conclusion of this study is that folktale story can improve students’ achievement in reading comprehension.en_US
