Enhancing Students'Critical Listening Skill through Problem Based Instructions and English Learning Channels on Podcast at SMKN 3 Medan in Academic Year of 2020-2021

Abstract

This research aims to investigated EFL students’ critical listening skill in which focuses on the ability to understand and to interpret the topic listened on Spotify with the name of channel was Rintik Sedu. This research used qualitative research with case study design was applied. 30 students of grade XI SMKN 3 Medan were recruited to be participants of the research. The instrument of the research consisted of listening test, questionnaire, and documentation. The data were collected through google form and tabulated respectively. Then, all the data were analyzed by using SPSS version 20. The result of the research showed that the students have the maximum results, namely 80.67 (multiple choice) and 82.43 (Essay). Critical listening leads to higher order thingking skill, since the students have the opportunity to deeply analyze the question based on their own knowledge.
