The Influence of Media Instagram on Students' Competency in Writing Descriptive Text at The Eleventh Grade of SMAS YPK Medan

Abstract

The objective of the research was to find out whether there is significant effect of using media instagram on students' competency in writing descriptive text. This research was conducted in SMAS YPK Medan students of elevent grade. This research used a quantitative research with experimental design with two classes: control class consisted of 25 students and experimental class consisted of 25 students. This research used instagram media as learning media. The tecnique of collecting data of this research were pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The results obtained in this research proved that there was a difference score on students in learning writing by using Media Instagram and without Media Instagram. Students achieves good grades but in the control class it was lower that the experimental class. It could be show as follows that the t-test value was 10.8950 with df=n-2=48, t observed> t table. t observed was 10.8950 was higher that t table with 2.0106. It can be concluded that Media Instagram can be effectively used to teach writing skills to class XI students of SMAS YPK Medan.
