THE USE OF DIRECT AND INDIRECT SPEECH DONE BY THE SECOND YEAR STUDENTS OF SMA AL WASHLIYAH 3 MEDAN

Abstract

This research concerns with the discussion of the ability of using direct and indirect speech. The problem of this research is: “ To what extent is the ability of the second year students of SMA Al Washliyah 3 Medan in using direct and indirect speech?” The objective of this research is to investigate the extent of ability of the students year students of SMA Al Washliyah 3 Medan in using direct and indirect speech. This research is significant to contribute ideas of English teaching in direct and indirect speech. Population of this research is the achievement of the second year students of SMA Al Washliyah 3 Medan in using direct and indirect speech. Sample of this research is the achievement of the second year students in answering the tests of direct and indirect speech. The data were collected by testing the respondents in tenses and direct and indirect speech . It is concluded that the second year students were able to answer the test of direct and indirect speech and suggested so that parents prepare the facilities for their sons and daughters in learning English.
