An Analysis of Teching Process in Ihsan Dyslexia Student in "Taare Zameen Par" Movie

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the teaching process of dyslexic patients in the TareZameenPar Movie. The purpose of this study is to explain the symptoms, dyslexic spelling errors, and teaching approaches to dyslexia and to explain that not all students' abilities and backgrounds are the same. The subject of the research was Ihsaan as the dyslexic character in the movie. Researchers used qualitative content analysis. The data collected is in the form of sentences, clauses, phrases, words and classified into several categories. Data is collected by watching and listening to the whole movie and reading the script from the movie, which is needed and classifying it. Data were analyzed by organizing data, using a coding process to identify spelling errors by Gavin Reid's theory in understanding teaching approaches to dyslexia, conveying analytical findings and making interpretations. The results of this study indicate that; 1) symptoms of dyslexia include difficulty reading, spelling difficulties, difficulty memorizing, difficulty in direction and congenital dyslexia. In addition, there are also strengths such as good art and good understanding skills. 2) spelling errors indicate that phonetic errors are the most errors than semifonetic errors, while dysphonetic errors are the least among them teaching approaches also exist such as multisensory, excessive learning, structured and sequential.
