THE ABILITY OF THE SECOND YEAR STUDENTS OF SMA ST. ANTONIUS IN WRITING NARRATIVE TEXT

Abstract

This research concerns with the discussion of writing narrative text in English. The objective of this research was to know the stage ability of the second year students of SMA ST. Antonius in writing narrative text. This research belonged to descriptive quantitative. The data were collected by using test of writing narrative text. To get the data, the second year students of SMA ST. Antonius were treated as respondents. The population of this research was the achievement of the second year students of SMA ST.Antonius in writing narrative text. The sample of this research was the achievement of forty respondents in writing narrative text. After the data were analyzed, it was found that the students who got “very good” were five persons. They were categorized the cleverest students. The students who got “good” were five persons. The students who got more than fair were five persons. The students who get ‘fair’ were four persons. The students who got ‘almost fair’ were four persons. The students who got ‘almost poor’ were one person. The students who got ‘poor’ were ten persons and ‘very poor’ achieve by six persons. Based on the distribution, the scores, they were scattered bottom-up. Hence it was concluded that the stage ability of the second year students belonged to ‘fair’ to write narrative text.
