THE EFFECT OF WATCHING TROLLS MOVIE WITH ENGLISH SUBTITLE TOWARDS STUDENT PRONUNCIATION ABILITY

Abstract

The objective of this research was to find out the effect of watching Trolls movie with English subtitle to develop students’ pronunciation at the eleventh grade of SMK AKP Galang. The sample of this research consists of 36 students from XI TKJ 1 in experimental class and 36 students from XI TKJ 2 in control class. In this research, the experimental class was taught by watching Trolls movie with English subtitle in learning process while control class was taught by conventional way. This research conducted in quantitative research. The instrument in this research was pre-test and post-test. The technique that used in this research was pre-test that given in both class experimental and control class, and post-test given in experimental class and record the students’ pronunciation. The result of this research showed that the use of Trolls movie with English subtitle is effective to develop students’ pronunciation. It can be seen from the result of calculation with the significance level 0.05, it showed that t-test (3.558) is higher than t-table (1.667). It means there is the effectiveness of watching Trolls movie with English subtitle to develop students’ pronunciation.
