dc.description.abstractThe primary objective of this research is to find out whether there is any significant effect of scanning technique on students reading narrative text. the research was conducted by using experimental design. The population of this research was the first years students of SMP swasta Muhammadiyah perdagangan in academic year 2020-2021. The sample was 40 students, 20 students in experimental group and 20 students in control group. The experimental group was taught by using scanning technique, while the control group was taught without taught scanning technique. The data of this study were collected by using the test. the test was in the form of multiple choice, which consist of 10 question. Those tets consisted of two types: they were pre-test and post-test. After collecting the data, then the researcher analyzed them by using t-test. it was found the t-observed (4.64) is higher than t-table (2.00) at the level significance 0.05 and the degree of freedom (df) 38. (94.64˃2.00, P= 0.05). it means that the use of scanning technique significantly effects on students’ reading comprehension.en_US
