dc.description.abstractThe objective of this research was to find out The Effect of POW+TREE Strategy on Students’ Ability in Writing Descriptive Text. This research applied two classes which were divided into two groups which consisted of Experimental group and control group. The first group was experimental group which was taught by use POW+TREE strategy, whereas the second one was control group and it was taught without use POW+TREE strategy. The population of this research was students at the VIII Grade students of SMP Swasta Pancasila Tanjung Beringin in Academic year 2019/2020 with the total number was 90 students. The sampling technique was simple random sampling so that obtained VIII-B as the Experimental group and VIII-C as the Control group. So, the total number of the sample was 60 students. A writing test was administrated as the instrument in collecting data. These test consisted of three types; namely pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The collected data was analyzed using the t-test formula. The t-critical value with df = 2N – 2 = 2(30) – 2 = 58 and significance level at 0,05 was 1,671. Based on the data analysis above, the alternative hypothesis of this research was accepted, because t-test was higher than t-table (7,22> 1,671). Therefore, it can be concluded that POW+TREE strategy has significant effects on the students’ ability in writing descriptive text.en_US
