dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this study was to determine the effect of using storytelling techniques on students' speaking skills at SMPS Plus Kasih Ibu Patumbak. The research method used is experimental. The population in this study were 105 students of class VII SMPS Plus Kasih Ibu Patumbak, while the sample was class VII- A (35 students) as the experimental group teaching storytelling techniques in narrative texts and class VII-B. (35 students) as the control group were taught without telling stories. This research was conducted through the following procedures: administering tests, implementing actions and administering post tests. The test is an oral test. Researcher some questions related to the topic, and students answer them orally. The results show that there is an increase in students' speaking skills by using storytelling techniques. After calculating the data, the researcher found that the t-observation was 3,80 and the t-table was 2.00. This means that the t-observation is higher than the t-table (3,80<2.00) with a df of 68 at a significance level of α=0.5. Thus the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. And it can be interpreted that storytelling techniques have a significant effect on students' speaking skills.en_US
