dc.description.abstractThis study aims to determine the students' ability in writing recount text, students grade X of SMA Swasta Satria Dharma Perbaungan. The lack of students'ability in writing recount text cause students do not know and masterize vocabulary. In the research, there were 30 students in the classroom. Writing is one of the language skills that required the students to express their ideas and thoughts into a good paragraph that can be understood by the readers. Recount text is a text that tells what happened in the past through a series of events that were delivered in sequence. In collecting data to support the research, the researcher would give the test to students. The test was writing recount text by free title. The, the students would write recount text by free title. The last, student' assignments were collected. By this test the researcher would analyze and know students' ability in writing recount text. In this research, the researcher used qualitative research because the data of the research is non-numerical but presented in words. The first result of content of recount text had a score of 580 or 19.33%. In writing recount text students could write content in recount text properly and correctly. So that good grades are are achieved in the content. The second category of organization was score 525 or 17.5%. In writing recount text. The third category of vocabulary was score 409 or 13.63%. The amount of vocabulary used was very small, because the results of the research clearly show that the vocabulary score was very high, but in this research the score for the vocabulary was very low. The fourt, category of language use was score 436 or 14.53%, In writing recount text, many students used the language use well, but there were ten students who cannot use the language use.en_US
