Abstract: The objective of this research was to find out the effect of using storyteling technique on students’ speaking skill at MTs Al-Ikhlasiyah Sei Buluh. The method used of the research was quasi-experimental.In this research , the population was the students of eight grade of MTs Al-Ikhlasiyah Sei Buluh consist of 90 students , meanwhile the samples were class VIII-I (31 students)as the experimental group was taught storytelling technique in narrative text and clas VIII-II (31 Students) as the control group wastaught without storytelling technique. This research, was conducted through the following procedures, such as: giving the test, applying the treatments and giving the post test. The test was oral test. The researcher asked some questions related to the topic, and the students answered them orally. The result indicated that there was an improvement in the students’ speaking skill by using storytelling technique. The result indicated that there was an improvement in the students’ speaking skill by using storytelling technique. After calculaing the data, the researcher got the t-observed was was 26,86 and the t-table 2.000. It meant that t-observed was higher than t-table (26,86> 2.000) with degree freedom (df) 60. Thus the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. And it could be conclude that the storytelling technique had significant effect for students’ speaking skill.
