THE EFFECT OF USING PICTURES TOWARDS STUDENTS' ACHIEVEMENT IN READING NARRATIVE TEXT IN SMP IT UMMI A'YUNI PERBAUNGAN 2018-2019

Abstract

The primery objective of this research is to find out the effect of using PICTURES towards students’ achievement in reading narrative text. The research was conducted by using experimental design. The population of this research was the second year students of SMP IT UmmiA’yuniperbaungan2018-2019 academic year. The sample was 48, 24 students in experimental group and 24 students in control group. The experimental group was taught by using PICTURES, while the control group was taught without taught PICTURES. The data of this study were collected by using the test. The type of test was essay tests consisted of 10 items. Those test consisted of two types: they were pre-test and post-test. After collecting the data, then the writer analyzed them by using t-test. It was found that the t-observed (3,30) is higher than t-table (2.00) at the level significance of 5% is 2.01 and 1% is 2.68. So,the value of “t” was higher than “t” table (3,30 > 2.02 in 5%) and (3,30 >2.68 in 1%) It means that the use of PICTURES significantly Effects on students’ Reading Achievement.
