IMPROVE STUDENTS ACHIEVMENT IN READING COMPREHENSION BY APPLYING PICTURES STORIES

Abstract

The problem of the research was the students had difficulty in finding main idea from the text. This thesis focuses on the process of reading comprehension by applying picture stories. The objective was to improve students’ achievement in reading comprehension by using picture stories.This research was intended to prove out the achievement in reading comprehension at the eight grade students of SMP IT ALI BIN ABU THALIB Tanjung Morawa. The subject of the research was 32 students, which consisted of 19 male and 13 female, then, the research method used CAR (Classroom Action Research). Instrument used in this research was multiple choice test, observation sheet, interview sheet, and questionnaire. Based on data analysis, students who tasked in the form of early or final can give a better influence for students and teachers in English lesson especially in reading comprehension. The conclusion is that picture story can improve students achievement in reading comprehension.
