THE EFFECT OF GUIDED CONVERSATION TECHNIQUE ON THE STUDENTS SPEAKING ACHIEVEMENT OF SECOND GRADE STUDENTS AT YAYASAN PERGURUAN SMK DHARMA KARYA BERINGIN IN 201/2018 ACADEMIC YEARS

Abstract

This thesis is carried out to described the effect of Guided Conversation Technique in teaching speaking. The problem of the research is to what extend is the effect of Guided Conversation Technique on speaking achievement of students of SMK Dharma Karya Beringin. The aim of the research was to know the effect of Guided Conversation Technique on the achievement of the students in speaking. In relation to this, the researcher states the hypothesis that the achievement of the students in speaking taught by the Guided Conversation Technique is better the students in speaking without the Guided Conversation Technique. Therefore, experimental research is carried out to acquired the data. The number of population is 40 students and divided into two groups. Experimental group and and control group. Each group consist of 20 students. The data are collected by giving a set of test. The data are analyzed by t-test formula. The result of shows that t-test is 8.12,t-test is higher than the distribution of t-table and the alternative hypothesis is accepted. It means that using Guided Conversation Technique as teaching strategy gives significant contribution to the students’ achievement in learning speaking. The difference between the experimental and control group is significant.
