THE ACQUISITION OF ENGLISH VOCABULARIES BY FIVE YEARSOLD STUDENT THROUGH SPELLING BEE GAME AT DD2EDUCATIONCENTRE

Abstract

This study was aimed to investigate how the process of English vocabularyacquisition through spelling bee game for five years old student at DD2 EducationCentre. The purposes of the study were (1) to investigate how is the process ofEnglishvocabularyacquisitionthroughspellingbeegameforfiveyearsoldstudentat DD2 Education Centre (2) to describe the factors influence the student acquiretheir English vocabulary at DD2 Education Centre. This study used case studyqualitativedesignwithethnographictofindouttheanswerofproblemofthestudy.The population of this study was the children who studying in DD2 EducationCentre. The researcher took the sample of one class where CALISTUNG classconsisted of four students. The researcher did the observation and documentationto identify the whole class activity and interview to find how the teaching andlearning process, and the development children's English vocabulary acquisitionduringtheirstudyatDD2EducationCentre.Thesampleforthisstudywasdetermined by using purposive sampling technique with the result subject becomefour children and four parents. The finding of this study showed some points asfollows:First,teacherhadimportantroleinchildren’sEnglishvocabularyacquisition.Second,InteachingEnglish,teachertaughtfromhowtopronounceandspell it, to know the meaning, how to write and used it. Third, teacher was being amodel and source for children in learning English, making the material easy tounderstand and also using simple language for children and the teacher used theSpelling Bee Game as a learning method.
