The effect of using small group discussion on student's reading comprehension at Smp Negeri 1 beringin

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to examine the effect of using small group discussion on students’ achievement of reading comprehension recount text eighth grade students’ of SMP Negeri 1 Beringin. The background of the research was students’ difficulties in reading comprehension. population of the research was eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Beringin. The research design was experimental research . it was conducted in two groups experimental group (VIII-2) and control group (VIII-5) which consists samples of 34 students’. Which was chosen by random sampling technique with lottery system. The result of research t-test indicated that t –table was greater than t-test in which was t-table(5,12 >1,99) with Df =66 at a significant level 0,05. After analyzing the data hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. It can be concluded that teaching and learning process using small group discussion on reading comprehension recount text is effective to be implemented.
