dc.description.abstract | The objectives of this research to improved the students’ speakingskillby using recitation method in idiomatic expressionat the eighth grade students of SMP Swasta Pembangun Medan.This research was conducted by usingClassroom Action Research (CAR). The subject of this research was VIII gradeof SMP Swasta Pembangun Medan 2017-2018 academic year which consisted of 32 students. This research was conducted in two cycles (cycle I and cycle II) which each consists’ of planning, action, observing, and reflecting. The data were colected through quantitative andqualitative data. The results of this research expose that students with the best idiomatic mastery and best speaking skill are the mean of pre-test was 56,88. The mean of post-test 1 was 75.04. the mean of post-test 2 was 70,15. It indicated that the scores and the mean in second cycle were better than the first cycle. The percentage of students who got point ≥75 also grew up. In the pre-Test, the students who got point ≥75 up were 4 students (12,50%). In the post-test of cycle 1 students who got point ≥70 up were 14 students (43,75%). The post-test of cycle 2, students who got point ≥75 were 26 students (81,25%). In other words, the students’ speaking skill improved and became well in the first meeting to the next meeting. The conclusion can be drawn is the students who master more idiomatic expressions speak natural English better than those who master less. | en_US |
